Configuration and Connection to SoftEther VPN Server on Debian 11 Minimal

For the connection to the server, you should know the IP address of the VM. You can find it in the personal account of Azure. You need to select the virtual machine from the list. By clicking on the item “Overview”, your IP is displayed in the line labeled “Public IP Address”.

In order for the VM to work correctly, you need to open ports TCP 22, 443, 1194, and UDP 1194 in Azure Firewall.

Software installation

  1. To start remote server administration on the operator’s computer, you need to install SoftEther VPN Server manager.

Configuring the server

  1. Specify the IP address of the Azure virtual machine in the Host Name line. Leave port 443 by default and click OK.
  1. To start the VPN Server admin panel, click Connect

  1. Next, in the “SoftEther VPN Server / Bridge Easy Setup” window, select the setting Remote Access VPN Server and click Next:
