Configuration and Connection to OBS Streaming Server on Windows Server 2022 DC

After purchasing and starting the VM, you should know its IP address. You can find it in the personal account of Azure. (You need to select the virtual machine from the list. By clicking the item “Overview”, your IP is displayed in the line “Public IP Address”).

You should allow access by port 1935, 443, 3389 (TCP), which you can do in the properties of the Azure firewall network.

Connecting to the server

  1. To connect to the virtual machine, run the “Remote Desktop Connection” shortcut “Win + R“.
  2. In the window that appears, enter “mstsc” and click “OK”.
  1. In the window that appears, enter the IP of the virtual machine and click “Connect”.
  1. In the window that appears, enter your username and password and click “OK”.
  2. Check the box and click “Yes”.

  1. After starting the VM on the desktop, you will see the OBS Studio shortcut that you need to open.
  1. Click “Next”.
  1. Next, we need to select the quality of the stream (choose depending on the capacity of your virtual machine), then click “Next”.
  1. Select the service you are going to stream on, in our case this is Twitch.
  2. To stream on Twitch, you need to connect your account or enter a StreamKey.
  3. We have chosen the option to log into your account, after logging in you need to choose a few more settings for streaming to Twitch. Once it has been configured, click “Next”.
  1. After completing Auto-Configuration, you should click “Apply”.
  1. Now you can set up the scene for streaming. In our case, we will add it to the desktop in Source.
  1. You can also add capture to your game and webcam.
  2. After setting up the scene, click “Start Broadcast”.
  3. To check, you can go to your channel and make sure that the stream is on.
