Setting Up and Connecting to Hyper-V Server 2025
Starting Your Server in Azure:
Begin by launching the virtual machine (VM) through the Azure portal.
Connecting Using Remote Desktop:
Once your server has been deployed, you can manually connect to it using your RDP client on your computer. Press Win + R, type mstsc, and click OK to open the Remote Desktop Connection.
Downloading an RDP File (Optional):
To simplify future connections, go to the VM’s Overview (1) properties. Click the Connect button (2), choose the Connect option from the drop-down menu (3)
and download the RDP file to your computer.
Logging In:
Use the username and password set up during deployment to log in via Remote Desktop. If you need to change these credentials, navigate to Help → Reset Password in the sidebar (1), fill in your new username (2) and password (3), confirm them (4), and click Update (5).
Using Hyper-V:
- For example, you can download an ISO image from Alpine Linux Downloads.
- Open Hyper-V Manager (1), and select your server (2).
- Navigate to Action > New > Virtual Machine from the menu.
Or New > Virtual Machine
- Click Next.
- Assign a name to your VM and click Next.
- Select Generation 2 and click Next.
- Click Next.
- Specify a location for the VM and click Next.
- Choose Install an operating system from a bootable image file. Use the Browse button to locate the downloaded ISO file and click Next.
- Complete the setup by clicking Finish.
- Select the newly created VM, then open the Settings menu (either through the context menu or by clicking the Settings button in the right column).
- Go to the Security section, uncheck the Enable Secure Boot option, and click OK.
- Double-click it or select Connect from the context menu to connect to the VM.
- Start the VM by clicking Start.
- Now you can use your VM.
With a Hyper-V virtual switch, you can configure your network between virtual machines or provide Internet access to a virtual machine
