Connection to FTP IIS on Windows Server 2025 DC Azure Edition
Step 1: Start the Server
- Run the virtual machine (VM) through the Azure Portal.
- Obtain the IP address of the VM:
- Open your Azure account and navigate to the virtual machine list.
- Select the relevant virtual machine.
- Click on “Overview” to locate the Public IP Address in the displayed details.
Step 2: Configure the Azure Firewall
To ensure proper functionality, open the following ports in the network properties of the Azure firewall:
- Port 21 (TCP)
- Ports 50000–51000 (TCP)
Step 3: Get Credentials
- To connect to the virtual machine, run the “Remote Desktop Connection” shortcut using “Win + R”. In the window that appears, enter “mstsc” and click “OK”.
- In the window that appears, enter the IP of the virtual machine and click “Connect”.
- Provide your username and password in the authentication window and click “OK.”
- Check the confirmation box and click “Yes.”
- On the first launch, select and accept settings to send diagnostic data.
- Locate the credentials file on the desktop of the virtual machine.
- Open the file to retrieve the username and password for the FTP server.
- To manage the FTP server, open IIS Manager.
Step 4: Connect to FTP Using “FileZilla Client”
- To connect to PureFTPd, it is recommended to use the “FileZilla Client” application (you can download it from the link: Download FileZilla Client for Windows (64bit x86)).
- When connecting to the ftp server, you need to follow these steps:
- In the <Host> field, enter the VM IP address
- In the <Username> field, enter the login received in paragraph 7 of the previous section
- In the <Password> field, enter the password received in paragraph 7 of the previous section
- In the <Port> field, enter port 21
- When the data is entered, press Quickconnect
- After entering all the data and clicking on Quickconnect, you will successfully connect to the server.
