Connecting to FTP IIS on Minimal Windows Server 2022 DC Azure Edition
Starting the Server
To start the server, launch the virtual machine (VM) through the Azure Portal.
To connect to the server, you need to know the VM’s IP address. You can find it in your Azure account:
- Select the virtual machine from the list.
- Click on “Overview”—your IP address will be displayed under “Public IP Address.”
Opening Firewall Ports
To enable connectivity, open the following ports in the Azure firewall’s network settings:
- 21, 3189, 50000-51000 (TCP)
Getting Credentials
- To connect to the virtual machine, run the program “Remote Desktop Connection”
- Enter the IP address of the virtual machine in the field “Computer” (1) and press ”Connect” (2)
- Next, enter username and password specified when creating the VM.
- A credentials file is available on the desktop.
- Open the file and use the credentials to connect to your FTP server.
- To manage your FTP server, run IIS Manager
Connecting to FTP Using FileZilla Client
To connect to the FTP server, use FileZilla Client (download it from FileZilla’s official site).
- Open FileZilla Client.
- When connecting to the FTP server, you need to follow these steps:
- In the <Host> field, enter the VM’s IP address
- In the <Username> field, enter the login received in paragraph 5 of the previous section
- In the <Password> field, enter the password received in paragraph 5 of the previous section
- In the <Port> field, enter port 21
- When the data is entered, press Quickconnect
- After entering all the data and clicking on Quickconnect, you will successfully connect to the server.
