Connecting and configuring Firebird 4 Server on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter

For the VM to work, you need to open TCP port 3050 in the AWS Firewall Security group.

  1. To connect to the Server, you should generate a “Private Key” in advance. This can be done using the Guidance on usage.
  1. Click the Remote Desktop file from step 10 of the Guidance on usage.
  1. In the window that appears, enter the password from step 12 of the “Guidance on usage” and click “OK”.
  1. Check the box and click “Yes.”
  1. Open and save the data from the creds file on the VM desktop.
  1. Go to the page for downloading DBeaver – Download.
  1. Download the software distribution convenient for you. 
  1. Run the downloaded file and finish the installation process.
  1. Start DBeaver.
  1. Click on the button to establish a new connection.
  1. In the list that appeared, find and select “Firebird”, then click the “Next” button.
  1. Enter your VM IP in the Host field (1). Then use data from the creds file. In the Path field (2), specify the path to the database located on the VM. For example: C:\Program Files\Firebird_4\examples\empbuild\EMPLOYEE.FDB 

Leave the Username field with sysdbassword (3), and click Finish (4). It is strongly recommended to change the pa, set the password after connecting to the database.

  1. While connecting, the window with the driver files installation may appear. Click  “Download”, then the connection to the database will continue.
  1. Your Firebird is ready to work.
